Learn Guitar in Philadelphia
What’s so great about the guitar? Lots!
What isn’t so great about the guitar? The guitar is an amazing instrument, around for hundreds, if not thousands of years, that brings joy to anyone who listens to it. The guitar is a musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is held flat against your body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand while simultaneously pressing the strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand. The guitar is no easy feat but when mastered, the sound is magical.
It’s no surprise that many young people want to learn to play the guitar. It’s also not a shock that older people want to pick it up too. We’ve all watched our favorite guitar hero shred their guitar and make it look so easy and mystifying at the same time. There is something about music in general, that just soothes and heals us.
Right now, we are all looking for outlets to help us get through this pandemic and a time when we are spending more time at home, with our families, and perhaps in close proximity to one another. We all need to find a way to cope. Music is that way. Whether you want to learn guitar or piano or any other musical instrument, there is no better time than now.
If you are thinking about picking up the guitar for the first time, or even as a refresher from past learning, you need to figure out what your goals are and how you want to learn. You need to decide what type of music you are most interested in and how you can get the guidance and help you need to learn and eventually continue.
Learning the guitar is not an overnight process. You aren’t going to decide to take lessons and magically wake up the next day with the ability to play your favorite song right away. The process takes time and you have to be committed to it. Luckily, there are some amazing teachers out there that want to help you succeed.
One such teacher is Philadelphia local, David Joel. David has been playing and learning and teaching guitar for many decades. He learned how to play, just like you, with a teacher and a ratty old guitar. He developed his skill and his complete love of music kept him going. He received the right education and learned to become an exceptional teacher. All of this combined with his passion for the guitar are what make him an outstanding teacher today.
David’s teaching style is to teach in a one-on-one setting. Just student and teacher. He believes it is the best way for you to learn at your own pace and develop your own style without worrying about what other students are doing. You get his undivided attention and we all need that right now. Since the pandemic, David has been teaching on an online platform. Although he prefers to see you in person, this is the next best thing. He can still see and hear you and because of this, he can teach and observe to help you get stronger and become the best guitar player you can.
