Need A Guitar Teacher?

Do you really need a guitar teacher?

If you really want to learn the guitar, you will do so much faster with a good teacher.  Imagine a child saying he doesn’t need to go to school anymore because he thinks he has already learned what he needs to know.  Well, that is the exact same attitude that many guitar players have about music.

Most of us can think of some good guitar players who have never had a formal music lesson in their life, but they still seem to have done quite well for themselves.  Of course, you can learn on your own but why take the risk of doing it on your own when it usually doesn’t work.  You could find a guitar teacher that can make things work for you.

A Great Guitar Teacher Can Help

Most people who choose not to work with a guitar teacher either have significant financial problems, don’t care enough, or just don’t understand how a great guitar teacher can help a student in more ways than they realize.  Most people, however, who don’t take guitar lessons fall into the last category.

Improve Without Limitations

Without a good guitar teacher, you may spend hours, days, weeks, months, and even years trying to learn things with limited results, when a teacher might be able to show you in as little as a few minutes.  Your progress will move quicker and correctly with a guitar teacher than without one.

Experience is the Greatest Teacher

Even the greatest athletes in the world need coaches and trainers so they can do their best to improve.  Music is the same way.  If you want to improve your skills and reach your true potential, you need the right people to help get you there.  A guitar teacher passes along information, knowledge of music theory, composition, improvisation, chords, scales, the elements of music, etc.  They also teach you about performance practice, work ethics of practicing, physical techniques, finger independence and tension control.  These things are almost impossible to learn on your own.

Learn by Error

A good teacher can spot weaknesses that need improving and bad habits that must be corrected.  Many players may be totally unaware of these habits or their very negative effects.  More importantly, the guitar player may not know how to correct them.  This is why a guitar teacher is so important.
