New Holiday Guitar Song
Learn a new song for the holiday season
So, you’ve been good all year. You’re taking guitar lessons and have been practicing really hard. You are finally comfortable playing in front of a few select people. But what are you going to play to show your loved ones how your lessons are progressing and how well you are learning? Why not learn a holiday song?
We’re getting pretty close to Christmas so if you are going to learn, you want to get some sheet music right now. Discuss with your instructor and let them help you pick out the perfect song. Even if you only learn the chorus from now until the holidays, you can practice the rest of the song in the coming year and be able to play the entire song next year.
Give them a little preview and next year they will understand just exactly how far you have come with your playing.
Think of classic holiday songs like “Jingle Bells,” “White Christmas,” or “Frosty the Snowman.” No matter what your favorite song is, you can definitely learn the chorus before the holidays are in full swing, but you need to get started now. Talk to your instructor and once you have selected the song, let your family know you will be hosting an impromptu performance while the family is gathering to celebrate.
The key to learning anything new is to practice, practice, practice. If you have the time, that is the way you are going to feel comfortable with your chosen song, even if it is just the chorus. Pick your practice time and find time each day to do it. Take a couple of extra lessons if you have to. Whatever you choose, it’s not too late to learn a holiday song right now.
Even if you don’t celebrate the holidays, learn a festive song for the season. A song about winter or something that is fitting for the year you’ve had or the year that is coming up. The goal is to be able to play a song or chorus and to share your talent with the ones you love. That is what the spirit of the season is about anyway.
